Matte paper suits most Nutrition Facts panels on dry boxes, cartons, and pantry packaging: it gives a clean, legible surface for fine print and ingredient lists at a low cost. For bottles, jars, refrigerated, frozen, and oily products, use water-resistant synthetic (polypropylene) rolls, which resist condensation and smudging far better than paper. Glossy Polypropylene runs on the CW-C6000A and CW-C8000, and Matte Polypropylene runs on the CW-C4000.

Water-resistant synthetic labels resist condensation, refrigeration, and freezing far better than paper, which can wrinkle or smudge in cold, damp conditions. Paper labels suit dry pantry and shelf-stable goods. For frozen or wet-applied products, ask our team about the right face stock and a freezer-grade or wet-strength adhesive for your packaging.

Common formats are 2″ x 1″ for small bottles, snacks, and supplements, 3″ x 2″ for jars, cans, and pouches, and 4″ x 3″ for boxes, cartons, and full Nutrition Facts panels with ingredient lists. The CW-C4000 suits smaller producers printing at lower volumes where up to 1200 dpi resolution is a priority, and it runs water-resistant Matte Polypropylene rolls. It locks to Matte Black or Gloss Black ink at purchase, so choose the ink that matches your media. The CW-C6000A suits mid-volume brands printing 4″ wide labels at 11 ips with auto-cutter output, and runs water-resistant Glossy Polypropylene. The CW-C8000 suits high-volume production at up to 12 ips, with an 8″ print width and a high-yield 1.9 L ink system. Yes. Fields like serving size and nutrition values, ingredient and allergen text, net weight, lot or batch code, best-before date, and retail barcode change between products and runs. With label design software that supports database-linked variable data, each label receives the correct values automatically as the roll advances. Requirements vary by market and change over time, and you are responsible for the content and accuracy of your labels, so always verify the current rules before a production run. In the United States, the FDA requires a Nutrition Facts panel in the prescribed format (21 CFR 101.9), an ingredient list in descending order by weight, a declaration of the major food allergens (which now include sesame), the net quantity of contents, and the name and address of the manufacturer, packer, or distributor. In Canada, the CFIA and Health Canada require a Nutrition Facts table, an ingredient list, allergen and “Contains” declarations, and bilingual English and French labelling on most prepackaged foods. Printing in-house lets you correct artwork the moment a value or requirement changes. Confirm current FDA and CFIA requirements before printing.

There is no minimum order when printing in-house. You can print a few labels for a trial product or thousands for a production run, from the same roll, with no setup fees between jobs.
